You Are Stronger Than You Think

Ever so often we stop ourselves from taking the next step forward in our life. Be if related to career, relationships or even a simple hobby that we have wanted to pick up for ages, there is a fear that keeps us standing where we are instead of reaching out to grab more.  We don’t even realize the depth of this fear, and at times we have not even consciously acknowledged it. This is a paralyzing fear that makes us think that the way things are seem fine, so why should we rock the boat by asking for more. And do we even deserve some more?

Self Doubt is always greater where there is less Self Love. When you can look at yourself in the mirror and honestly tell yourself that you love and approve of yourself, then you are sure that you will be able to express this love for yourself in the right manner. By giving yourself the respect you deserve, by doing things that you feel like you should. You are never weak, you are only doubting your strength to take on your new demons. Sometimes it is just the thought of failing that holds us immobilized, but if you never begin how are you ever going to succeed or fail?

When you feel the world is crashing in on you, remember the words of A.A. Milne.  Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”

Think about it, what is the one project that you want to take on at work that you feel you may not to justice to? What is the one relationship that you want to improve, which you know can be better than it is today? What is the one hobby that you have always wanted to participate in but thought was too frivolous to waste your time on? What is the book that you have been dying to write all about? There are so many desires hidden in your soul. Find one today and examine it. Ask yourself why you have not done something for this desire to come true?

There is no one and no situation in the world that you cannot face on your own steam. All you need is a firm conviction in your mind that what you are doing is right for you. That it is not going to harm anyone else and that you deserve to be rewarded with the very best that life has to offer. Once you believe in your own abilities, trust your own talent, and take charge of your ambitions, there is nothing that can possibly hold you back.

Affirm to yourself – “I am healthy and strong today. I have all the information and knowledge I need to make the right choices to live a happy and content life.”

Keeping Your Inner Child Happy

A whole lot of time and effort is spent in pursuit of happiness by adults, however ever so often they have no actual idea of what happiness means for them. The way to find out if you are on the path to happiness is to check in with your Inner Child to check if what you are currently doing, makes your Inner Child happy.

Who is your Inner Child?

As a child you were innocent and happy. All your defenses were yet to be built up and you were pretty much vulnerable to anyone who chose to hurt you. You were sensitive enough to be wounded by mere words and resilient enough to suppress those hurts so that you could go ahead and live. Day by day as you grew older you created a protective shield around you. One that made sure you would never feel vulnerable and hurt again, but you also managed to trap your Inner Child behind that wall you constructed. Now as an adult when you want to feel the same innocence, the same joy, you are unable to connect with it, because you are unable to connect with your Inner Child.

What makes your Inner Child happy?

If you really want to be happy you need to find out what makes your Inner Child happy. You need to find the bricks that make up that wall, that shield around your Inner Child and take it down one piece at a time. The bricks are all emotions you have felt strongly in the past, and still feel.  The frustration, the anger, the fear, the injustice, the stress, the embarrassment and just about any feeling that contributed to that wall need to be addressed. When you push though all that, you get to the happy part. The memories of how much fun you could have simply jumping in a muddy puddle in the rain.

Ways to keep your Inner Child happy
Asking yourself what you need is a great place to start communicating with your Inner Child. It can be a question as simple as – What would you like to do today? Then just relax and focus on your Inner Child, imagine yourself at about ten years of age and ask that question again. Now pay attention to what that little child, that little you, is really in the mood to do. Silence that critical adult who has been telling you to run your life in regulations. Instead think of the creative things that you would like to do.

You want to sing? Start right away. Feeling like dancing? Go put on some music. Want to draw or paint? Break out the art supplies. The idea is to find an activity that makes you smile. The creative adult is usually one with a happy Inner Child. Every child is an artist and is not afraid to share the creations she makes with the world. It is time for the adult in your to connect with the child within so that you can remain that joyful creator who happily shares her work with the world. Allow your Inner Child to come out and play.

Fighting Fears

If at any point of time you feel that you are not living up to your full potential, there is generally a fear holding you back from reaching it. There are some obvious fears, such as the fear of failure. No one wants to give their all to an idea only for it to become a flop and a monetary disaster in their lives. Then there is the less obvious fear of success. Some of us are actually avoiding taking the next step in the success chain because we are way too worried about what we are going to do if we succeed! With success come change and most of us are pretty comfortable just the way we are to want to make any changes.

Awareness and Identification

If you are not sure what fear is keeping you from meeting your destiny, you need be find a way to become aware of it. Journaling your thoughts on a daily basis is a good way to find out just how your brain works. When you free play with your words in a space you know only you have access to, things begin to come out which you can later identify as the basis of your fears. Once you are aware of what is really holding you back, there are a number of ways to fight back.

EFT or Tapping

Emotional Freedom Technique or what is colloquially called Tapping, is a method where you tap on the ends of your body’s energy meridians to help you deal better with stress and fears. The non invasive system is based on principles similar to acupuncture and acupressure, but works predominantly on the strong emotions that you feel. It is a beautiful fear fighting tool that can let you lower your intensity of fear as you tap the points repeatedly.

Creative Visualization Meditations

Many fears we have a quite irrational and illogical. Some may make no sense at all in the world as we live it, but are frighteningly real to you.  So how do you deal with such fears? Ask yourself what is the worst thing that can happen. Imagine the absolute worst situation, and then correct it in your mind with a solution. Now visualize everything that you think can go wrong, and automatically use your solutions to correct these errors. Gradually the solutions will become second nature and the fears will fade away forever.

Life Coaching

There is no shame in asking for help. If you could not lift a 50 kg suitcase up the staircase, you would accept the help of your friend or family member and do it together! When you can ask for help with physical matters, there is no need to hesitate to ask for help in emotional matters as well. A life coach is often able to spot your fears before you are. Plus they are a in a much better position to help you as compared to a well meaning friend or family member as they are specially trained for the situation.

Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone

Just Do It is not a popular slogan because of the brand it endorses. It is a very real action plan to go beyond whatever doubts and fears are plaguing your mind. One of the best ways to fight your fear is to actually face it. Think about the fear that is holding you back from success and then pursue the set of actions that will make you face this fear head on!
