Say Yes to the Journey of Self Love

You don’t just wake up one fine morning and decide that you love yourself and everything falls into place. It’s a process of removing old patterns, of getting rid of unhelpful blocks which eventually leads to a change in the quality of your life. Self Love is not a destination that you hit once you do all this, it is rather the journey you undertake while undergoing these processes.

Jump in with both feet

It is no use sitting on your ass and wondering what you need to do next. It is action that helps you begin the process of self love. Look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself you are loved. Then move out and do something to prove it to yourself. Buy yourself a gift, pamper yourself, do something physical and tangible to prove that your love yourself. Don’t sit in judgment over what you are doing. Even if it is something silly like taking a painting class when your rational self is belittling you for wasting precious resources of time and money. Express your love for yourself freely. Let the journey be whatever it needs to be so that you can become what you are supposed to be.

Commit 100 percent

The path may not be clear. It may be meaninglessly meandering and have more bumps than you catered for. You may not be sure what decisions to take along the way and may feel frustrated. That does not make it any less real for your needs.  Once you have set off on the journey, understand that what is best suited for your growth is what you are going to face. Don’t get discouraged when you see others around you getting a better deal, or you feel that you are being short changed by life. Remember the Law of Attraction works the same for everyone. If they have something you wish for, you just need to manifest it for your own self.

Focus on processes rather than outcomes

While it is a good idea to have a broad goal to look forward to, it should not become the bane of your existence. Allow yourself to take the steps that you feel are best suited to meet that goal eventually. Place your attention on the process and the experiences that you have along the way. Just like how Lord Krishna told Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, perform the actions you are meant to and don’t think about the rewards to come. Stay on the path long enough and everything you want will eventually come to you. All you need to do is decide what action you are willing to take today, to make your dreams of tomorrow a reality.

Affirmation – I am a divine child of the universe. Everything I do and say is fantastic, beautiful and loving. I love and accept myself just the way I am. I am perfect.

Pulling in Your Success to You

Each thought you think is creating your future. So far you have been manifesting unconsciously without realizing that what you have been focusing on is becoming a reality. Now you need to do it consciously and pull your success to you. Here is what you need to do in inner work to have that outward appearance of success.

Understand How You Feel

All manifestation work is done first in the head and then translates to the physical world. This means that you need to change your current thinking to success inspiring thinking. Feel your emotions when you think about success, work out what is holding you back. You need to understand both your conscious and subconscious feelings. This is critical to achieving success.  Only when you know where you are going wrong in your thinking will you be able to remedy it.

Believe You Deserve Success

All successful people have no doubt in their heads that they deserve their success. You may like to think you deserve success, but do you really feel it in your bones? Do you really know in your inner most core that you deserve the best relationships, health, and finances that are possible? Here is something that can help you understand if you believe you deserve success or not. Just pick a field and say “I don’t deserve success because…” If you can complete the sentence more than once, you are in trouble. Now focus on this sentence “I deserve to be successful because …” and see what you can come up worth.

Overcome Old Patterns and Past Events

Maybe in the past you didn’t have support. Maybe you were trained by your parents to always be cautious. Perhaps you suffered through a traumatic past event. The reason why your old pattern of holding back developed is not important. What matters is to identify it, and then overcome it. Two simple methods to overcome old patterns are using positive affirmations to develop new beliefs and using EFT or tapping to remove old thought patterns.

Silence Your Inner Critic

Whatever may have happened in the past is not going to happen again in the future. If you really want to be successful you need to be willing to learn lessons from the past and take things forward in the direction you want to move. You have to tell that little voice inside that keeps belittling you that you are better than it thinks. Accept the challenges coming your way with equanimity and silence that internal criticism that you keep feeding yourself.

Don’t Be Afraid to Fail

One reason a number of people are unable to reach high levels of personal and professional success is because they give up the first time they fail. If it is your dream to write and publish a book and you send it in to a publisher who rejects it, does that mean that you will never be successful? Not at all, it means that you need to send it to another publisher. Think about the many rejection slips that the first Harry Potter book received. Today it’s a bestselling series that changed its author’s life. You need to be able to handle your failures just as well.

Affirmation –“ Prosperity of every kind is drawn to me. I am super successful in everything I undertake.

Steps for Enhancing Your Life

Living life can be fun and happy if you allow it to be. Making a beautiful lifestyle for your family and you does not have to be a constant struggle. No matter what our current circumstance is, it is human nature to want something more. Think about the time you heard about someone who did something new and exciting.  Now think about how you reacted to the news. It is just as easy to say, “This is something I could do”, as it is to say, “How come cool things like this never happen in my life?”

Increasing Your Awareness of Feelings

You need to gain a deeper understanding of how you feel in different situations. A good way to do this is by constantly monitoring your ‘self chatter’.  This is the set of words or sentences that seem to constantly chatter through your brain with apparently no control. The truth is, these statements come from people who you have interacted with, especially in childhood. It can be a sobering thought when you realize that what you believed to be your own words and opinions is indeed something you probably inherited from your parents. You will question if you have ever had an original thought at all! Now trace what you are truly feeling. Become aware of the emotions that roll through you from dawn to dusk.

Identifying Recurring Patterns of Thought, Emotions and Action

As you begin to pay attention to your feelings you will begin to notice repeated patterns. These would show up in your mind as thoughts and emotions and in your actual deeds as actions. Each pattern is feeding a part of your personality. If you have a pattern of being worried about handling big projects you may have the ability to paralyze yourself into inaction when you truly need to take important decisions which may affect the fate of the project. Think about it, how often have you heard that nasty voice in your head tell you, “I told you so” when you failed at a project you really wanted to succeed with? Now identify what you need to do to change this pattern. Plan how you will turn self defeating patterns on their head by becoming aware of your triggers and taking positive action to ensure you don’t fall into the trap again.

Motivating Yourself to Stick with ‘The Change

Identifying what’s going wrong is the easy part. The tough part is sticking with the change that you need to make. To enhance your life, you need to heal your life constantly with positive action. Initially you will have the zeal of the new convert and will be highly motivated to do all it takes to get your life back on track. Then gradually you will get complacent and the old patterns are still so engraved in your being that they jump right back into your behaviour. You will have to fight with constant vigilance to ensure that you don’t fall into the old ways again.

Affirm to yourself –“I am now willing to change. I am willing to release all old patterns that are no longer beneficial to me and my life purpose.”

Identify Your Patterns

Life is characterized with habits and patterns. You do something and expect something to happen in return. For instance, when the gardener sows a seed he knows that a seedling will burst forth from the ground after the requisite amount of time if he continues to water the soil and keep it moist. The baker knows that when yeast is added to the dough, the dough will double in size if left alone to ferment overnight and make the bread softer. The orchard owner knows that if he does not pluck the flowers of the tree, he will get to harvest the delicious fruit that is sure to form in just a few weeks time.

Patterns and habits such as these exist everywhere around us. In the natural environment for sure and in the human world as well. For instance if the children make too much noise, mother will shout at them to tone it down. If a brother cut the hair of his sister’s  favourite doll, she will make sure that his favourite action figure loses its weapon, or some other form or retribution is sure to be forthcoming. If the boss seems unhappy, it is not the best time to present him with the plans for the office picnic because he is sure to refuse it in his present frame of mind. If your friend is feeling unhappy because she broke up with her boyfriend, you are going to take her out and feed her ice cream, or maybe take her out to a movie to make her feel better.

These are easy patterns that lead you to form habits, but there are some patterns that you are unaware of.  There are some patterns in your life that may not always be in your best interest. For instance never speaking up when a family member bothers you by saying something, just to keep the peace. Trying not to be confrontational even when you know that you are in the right and the other person is in the wrong. Believing that you need to work very hard indeed to attain any measure of financial success. Sabotaging your own goals of weight loss and fitness by over eating or not exercising enough. These are behaviour patterns which do not work for your highest good, but you have them all the same.

They may arise from a number of limiting beliefs that you may have. The trouble is that till you identify your life’s patterns you are not going to be able to identify the limiting beliefs behind them. And a belief is merely a well entrenched thought. No matter how deep rooted a belief may be, it is just a thought which can be changed. By replacing the old limiting belief with a new positively charged affirmation it is possible to literally change the pattern of your life. All you need to begin with is to identify the existing patterns in what you see going wrong in your life. Think about it, what seems to never go right in your life? Now identify the pattern to get to that particular limiting belief.
