Several Reasons Prevent You from Living the Life You Want

There is a major prevalence of dissatisfaction among people today. No matter what stage of life they are at, be it a student in a college, a corporate employee, a self employed entrepreneur or a housewife who takes care of the home. Everyone is struggling with issues of low self esteem that do not allow them to live the life they want to. Even when no one is physically holding them back from living their dreams and achieving new ambitions, their very thoughts hold them back from scaling new heights.

1. Self Care is not Selfish

Most of us as reluctant to take the time out to do more of ourselves. We argue we don’t have the time or resources to pamper ourselves. We lie to ourselves and to the world. Lying doesn't take us anywhere but still we lie and for some, it becomes a habit. Instead acknowledge that you can take that art, dance, music, or photography class. You can scrape the money and time required for it if you put your full attention to it. If you take care of yourself, your needs, your dreams, you are not suddenly turning into a selfish person.

2. Our schedule does not reflect our true priorities

There is an exercise that I did in a time management class which asked us to represent our day with a circle, then divide it up based on the number of hours we pursued certain activities. The first time I drew my time wheel I was amazed at the huge slots of hours that I wasting in my 12 hour functional day. How much time do you spend on trivial activities during the day that do no matter? How much time to you spend on activities that you consider your true priorities? Found the imbalance, now fix it!

3. Adrenaline has become our main choice of fuel

We can’t sit still anymore as we believe that a person who is not on the go always, is wasting time. We want to be productive even at the cost of our health and relationships. That surge of adrenaline pumping through our bodies has become our addiction. We want to feel that high when we rush from one place to the other. There is no place to slow down and think about what we actually want from life. Until you do that, you are never going to live the life you want.

4. Drained by people, places and things

Think about the energy vampires in your life. The people who want to tell you all their troubles and listen to them whining when you have better things to do. The places where nothing ever gets done on time and you have to visit them a couple of times before you make even the most rudimentary of progress. The things that need to be repaired, but you keep putting off and struggling with. All these are draining your energy and preventing you from living the life you deserve.

5. Can’t afford it

Money is a major concern for all of us in the material world that we are living in. Most of us believe that there isn’t enough money to go around and this lie actually becomes the truth of your life. Don't be a perpetual liar. It ruins everything like a low death. Be firm with yourself when you think negatively about money. Tell yourself you can afford the new purchase that you want to make. It’s all a matter of faking it till you make it. Trust me, money will flow in where none was expected!

Build a Support System that you can trust and you can live the life you dream of. Another mistake many of us make is not paying attention to spiritual well being. Just as important as it is to have a physically healthy body , it is important to have good emotional health and that is where a spiritual bent of mind makes a huge difference! Love yourself and heal the world!

Find Your True Self

I recently read an absolutely riveting story about the Golden Buddha as retold by Nick Ortner. Some of you may be familiar with his work in the field of tapping also known as EFT. He is a coach and strong proponent for the tapping solution. Here’s how the story goes.

“Over 300 years ago, as a Burmese army planned an attack to invade Thailand (then called Siam), Siamese monks who were in possession of an enormous treasure, a solid gold Buddha that today would be valued at over 200 million dollars, made a decision.

To protect the Buddha from being plundered, they covered it in 12 inches of clay.  The Burmese attackers, thinking it worthless, ignored it but sadly killed the monks.  So for over 250 years, until the mid 1950’s, this Buddha existed only as a clay Buddha.

Then, when the Buddha was being moved to a new location by a crane, it began to crack - they didn’t expect it to be so heavy.   The monks set it down, waiting for a bigger crane the next day, and covered it with a tarp to protect it from the rains.

One monk, in the middle of the night, came to check that the tarps were staying on and saw a reflection, a glimmer in the crack.  He carefully chiseled away around the crack as the glimmer grew...And then…as the clay fell away...a solid gold Buddha shone once again for the world to marvel at.”

This story got me thinking about how we often only see ourselves as a Clay Buddha because that’s all the people around us have ever told us we are. What if we dug into our core and found that we were indeed a Golden Buddha?

Just as much as you can find out about other people by speaking with them about their lives, their interests, their dreams and hopes, you can do the same for your own self. It is important to talk with yourself to find out exactly who you are.

Mirror work is a great tool to do this. Spending some time in front of the mirror each day telling yourself what you want to do, what you are grateful for, what you find challenging, can indeed make a huge difference in the quality of your life.

It is a simple but powerful tool. Most of us are well aware of it, and yet we don’t make it an everyday practice. Why are we so convinced that we can do it anytime we want to, but never seem to find the time to actually do it? Why are we so scared to look inside?

Are we worried that maybe one day we may look in the mirror and after hoping to see the clay around us crack and wash away, we will still not find the golden heart inside? Or are we just so scared that we may really be solid gold and would not know what to do with that revelation?!

Dealing with You Sensitive Side

You believe in caring for others. You feel the pain of random strangers when you come to know about their loss. You are more emotional when faced with a tragic situation. You are extremely empathic with others about what difficulties they are going through in life. You are a sensitive and beautiful soul, but you seem to be up against a world made of stone. You seem to be getting hit by emotions, situations and people all the time and are unable to process it all in a wholesome manner. Here’s some help to let you make it.

Surround yourself with people who let you be your authentic self

One of the biggest problems with being super sensitive is the fact that you are always so worried about being misunderstood that you are super careful about sharing how you actually feel about people and situations. While you may think you are being polite and well mannered, the truth is that you are losing touch with the only person who truly matters in your life – you! If you need to wear an acceptable persona each time you are dealing with someone else, you will have a number of personas available to use, and none of them will be the real you. You will not be able to express your own thoughts and feelings freely, ever. So stick with people who actually like to listen to your true opinion about everything from a book you read, to the latest political discussion.

Turn down the noise in your life, stop the mindless distractions

To heal your life and love yourself, you need to be able to be the true you. If you keep reacting in the sensitive manner to everything around you, you will eventually become exhausted. This means that you need to cut to the chase, stay with the important stuff. Weed out the time consuming, energy zapping situations and people who float around your life like white noise. You need to pull the plug on them or else they will continue draining your power and energy. Don’t give in to mindless distractions and dramas being enacted in the lives of other people. It is their business, not yours.

Stop the violence that insults your sensitive side

Have you ever sat down to watch the news and felt absolutely gutted because of some violent story you just saw on the television. For most people fires, murders and terror attacks are a gruesome tale, but for the more sensitive ones, it’s almost like a prison sentence to having an awful day just thinking and rethinking about this story. Try and limit the violence in your life, be it in daily situations or even what you catch on the news or internet stories. Don’t become a bleeding heart and start posting about lost children, people who need surgery and all kinds of myriad depressing stories that can really take a toll on your positive attitude towards life.

Affirmation: “I live in the present moment. I am calm, serene and peaceful. I am surrounded by love.”

Heal Your Life by Boosting Your Self Confidence

Are you ready to conquer the world? Not sure? Why don’t you check your self confidence meter! The more you believe in yourself, the better your life will be. The self confidence of a person is a combination of a person’s self efficiency and their self esteem. A problem in either one will result in a number of issues to be resolved. In order to heal your life, you need to have a high level of self confidence. Here are some things that can help you develop and maintain a high level of self confidence no matter what situation you find yourself in.

Prepare Yourself for What You are Likely to Face

It’s always scary when you walk into a new situation. If your inner child has been criticized very often in the past, there is a good chance that you as an adult are cringing from the possibility of being criticized as well. Perhaps you are unwilling to put yourself out there because you are already half convinced by your inner citric that no matter what you do, you are not gonna do a good job.

What’s the way around this self confidence block? Preparation! The more you prepare for all kinds of contingencies that may show up, the better you are likely to deal with them when some of them do actually show up. Don’t leave things to chance, think of what you may need and plan accordingly. You will feel good when you are already prepared for small problems that crop up later.

Catalogue Your Achievements Regularly

Ever so often, we have our eyes set on the final goal. The ultimate achievement is always so far away. However if you decide to actually catalogue your smaller achievements as you traverse the path you have chosen, you will also be able to boost your self confidence along the way. You will pay attention to what you have already managed to achieve instead of being fixated on what you need to do. Celebrating the smaller achievements is a huge motivator for you to stay on the path.

Identify and Understand Your Strengths and Weaknesses

One of the biggest mistakes you can make is to try and work in a job which focuses on a weakness. If you are not computer savvy and get stuck in a job where you need to use different features of the computer every day, you are going to get frustrated at every step. You will feel bad about not knowing things that others around you seem to grasp easily and eventually your self confidence will begin to dip. Instead of getting into a bad situation, figure out what your strengths and weaknesses are before you take on a task. It will help you deal with the task easily and at the same time enhance your self esteem on getting a job done easily.

Set Goals that Mean Something Important to You

No two people think alike and so it should not come as a surprise to know that no two people measure success in exactly the same manner. Some people find fame more satisfying than earning money. Others prefer to have power and prestige over being famous. The idea is to find the goal that means the most to you, then set about achieving it. Think about what you enjoy doing and what you want to be the best at. Then work towards making it happen in your life.

Attracting What You Want, When You Need It, Without Self Esteem Blocking You

When we speak of using the Law of Attraction to manifest what our heart desires, and it actually does become a reality, it feels like magic. That you could think of something and make it come into existence for you does seem like it would require great effort and mysterious mantras. At least that is the conditioning we seem to function from thanks to our general upbringing. No one ever said that if you want something ask for it and it will be there. Our parents and teachers always said that we would have to work hard if we wanted a good life. Without paying your dues you could not expect anything to go your way, as per them.

Why Attraction Doesn’t Work for You

Then along comes this brand new concept that tells you that all you want can truly be yours. In fact you will not need to work terribly hard and slave away to get what you desire. All you need to do is think clearly about your desire and then visualize it as real. Work on the guidance given to you by your higher self, which is basically your connection to the eternal energy flowing throughout the universe. In due course you will find that whatever you have desired is coming straight to you. However there is one main barrier to making the Law of Attraction work for you. This is a low self esteem that believes that you do not deserve what you desire.

The Importance of Self Esteem

Your self esteem intrudes in all aspects of your life. It affects the way you look because self esteem dictates how you dress and hold yourself. It pokes its head into your relationships as you either accept what adoration you get as your due, or wonder what the people’s hidden agenda is when they are being good to you. It also has far reaching consequences on your health because if you don’ think you are worth it; you are not going to make the effort to take care of yourself. It affects your financial security as well. All in all self esteem issues are best tackled head on to ensure that you live a better, more fulfilled life.

Improving Low Self Esteem with Mirror Work

One of the easiest ways to boost your self esteem is to do what Louise Hay terms “Mirror Work.” This essentially comprises of looking into your own eyes in a mirror and really seeing yourself. Then you add an affirmation that allows you to raise your self esteem. The one that Louise uses personally in tough situations is “All is well. Everything is working out for my highest good. I am loving and approving of myself. A solution is available. I feel better and better about my ability to deal with this challenge right now.” You can use this as a starting point and come up with any affirmation that works for you.

Boosting your self esteem will help you trust your inner guidance better. It will allow you to gain confidence in your own abilities and talents. You will be more aware of the gifts your soul has to offer and be willing to share them with other people. There will be more love in your life and your relationships will have a grounding of compassion. It’s all possible if you believe you can do it. That is what the Heal Your Life Workshops are all about. Exploring what is lacking in yourself and healing it to help you develop into a more complete spiritual being.
